Indie Head Massage is a form of massage therapy that stems from the ancient healing practices of Ayurveda. This treatment helps relieve stress, muscle tension, headaches, and sinusitis; it can ease eye strain and jaw ache and alleviate insomnia and mental tiredness. During the 45 minute treatment, warm oil is applied to the scalp and hair, and combined with deep therapeutic massage to the face, scalp, neck and shoulders. Cupping

Provided By Dana Vitone and Lisa Ferguson

Cupping is a unique therapy that uses negative pressure, rather than tissue compression as you would experience in regular massage. Cupping is an ancient treatment that remains popular today because it's safe, comfortable, and effective for treatment of many conditions. By creating suction and negative pressure, this therapy releases rigid soft tissue, drains excess fluid and toxins, loosens adhesions, lifts connective tissue, and brings blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles. Myofascial release is direct, and correct application can address a variety of debilitating and stubborn, conditions. The pulling action engages the parasympathetic nervous system allowing for deep relaxation to move through the body.

TMJ Massage

Provided By Lisa Ferguson
The jaw is frequently overlooked as a source of pain in the head, neck, face and throat. TMJ issues can be the result of motor vehicle accidents, sport or work site injuries, hobbies such as singing or acting, or the root cause of headaches. If you have a habit of clenching or grinding your teeth, or wear a corrective dental device, compressive forces on the jaw and an imbalance in muscle tightness can lead to clicking, pain and ultimately joint damage. Resolving this compression and muscle imbalance can help you live pain free and prevent jaw difficulties in the future.

Massage Therapy for TMJ disorders can provide relief from many of the following symptoms:

  • Clicking, popping or grating sounds when opening or closing the jaw
  • Biting or chewing discomfort or difficulty
  • Dull, aching pain or tenderness in the face or jaw
  • Reduced ability to open or close the mouth
  • Headaches
  • Earaches or tinnitus
  • Neck and shoulder pain

During your TMJ treatment, you will lie partially elevated on your back and we will focus on reducing tension in the muscles of the head, neck and jaw. Treating some of these muscles will involve working inside the mouth with a nitrile glove, alternating between left and right sides. Communication will be constant, ensuring your comfort at all times. Depending on severity, 3-8 sessions may be required to recitfy any existing issues, and we will do a reassessment along the way to mark your progress.
